The season opener, on Mothering Sunday, 18th March, will see racegoers able to enjoy the latest improvements made at the course since the close of last season.
Amongst the winter developments are: the installation, and extension, of a glass-fronted veranda overlooking the Parade Ring, the refurbishment of the private boxes and a new ticketing booth in the centre of the racecourse car park to help ease traffic congestion on race days.
Discussing the continued investment at the course, Patrick Masterson, Managing Director at Newton Abbot Racecourse, said: “Each year the racecourse undertakes a development programme to improve the experience for all who visit the course.”
“This winter we have focused on developing the facilities within the Paddock Enclosure. Through the installation of a new staircase and an extended glass-fronted veranda overlooking the Parade Ring, this year more racegoers will be able to enjoy watching the horses in the Ring prior to racing and for the prize-giving.”
“The private boxes within the Teign Suite have also undergone a complete refurbishment, following their initial development in 1990. Proving very popular for our corporate guests and those looking to mark a celebration, the private boxes offer uninterrupted views across the entire course. Their refurbishment has included new private kitchen facilities in each box, new plasma screens to watch all of the days’ racing and new carpets throughout.”
“To further improve access to the course on busy racedays, we have implemented a new traffic management system. Visitors coming by car will now be able to park in the centre of the course prior to purchasing or collecting their tickets from the new ticket booths in the centre of the course. “
Alongside the physical developments at Newton Abbot, the racecourse have also invested over £100k in a self-funded fixture to bridge a gap in summer fixtures. The biggest fixture to ever be held at Newton Abbot will take place on August 4th and, to mark the landmark fixture, the racecourse have launched a £10 ticket promotion for the race meeting.
Racing returns to Newton Abbot on Sunday 18th March, with the first race at 1:45pm. Further information and tickets are available online at www.newtonabbotracing.com
