Follow on Google News | Burlington-Camden Kappas Send Care Packages to Deployed US TroopsThe Burlington-Camden Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi recently collected personal items and toiletries to send care packages to US troops stationed in Afghanistan.
By: Lloyd Freeman, Esq. Over 500 items were collected in total through the groups' combined efforts. Some of the supplies included: non-perishable snacks, crossword puzzles, deodorant, shaving cream, and other hygiene products. A few supporters even wrote letters to the soldiers, thanking them for their service. Linda Gallo, an employee of Archer & Greiner, initiated the idea after her nephew was deployed to Afghanistan. After talking with her nephew about the scarcity of resources, she asked for a list of supplies they needed and organized this effort. "Many of our troops do not receive care packages or any correspondence from loved ones while deployed," noted Lloyd Freeman, president of the Burlington-Camden Alumni Chapter and also an attorney at Archer & Greiner. "We wanted to do our part to thank them for all that they do." Ms. Gallo commended the fraternity for its generosity stating, "I'm sure everything the Kappas have donated will be much appreciated; # # # Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. is an international organization founded at Indiana University in 1911.
