In the year of the dragon, in honor of New Mexico's centennial,
IMPRINT NEW MEXICO reveals the Land of Enchantment’s history via the big sky.

Albuquerque, New Mexico, June 8, 2012.  In honor of New Mexico’s centennial Michael C. Gutierrez will present a solo exhibition of his most prolific series to date, IMPRINT NEW MEXICO, at the Hydra Gallery on June 8th, 2012 from 6-9pm in Albuquerque, NM.  The IMPRINTS, or energyscapes as referred to by Gutierrez, embody the darkness and the light that coexist within each of us; revealing vortexes, dimensional portals, dragons, and the energy imprints embodying the history of New Mexico via the big sky. Michael states, “This is my love letter to the people of New Mexico and to the only place in my life I have ever called home.”

Using his systematic HE-13 style of shooting, Gutierrez’ multi faceted images encompass a vision all his own.  In a recent interview Gutierrez said, "In a time where most people, including myself, never look much further than our cell phones, we need reminders such as the IMPRINT series to reconnect with ourselves via the vastness of the New Mexico sky.”  Michael also states, "As a universal idea, I was offered this series, and feel honored to have the opportunity to share life in a new way.”    
Gutierrez's artistic process is intense and integrated into everything he does.  Gutierrez states, "I trust what I do, in all aspects of photography. When you are your own greatest influence there are no limits.  I openly receive ideas and will continue to push my medium forward.”

Michael C. Gutierrez, fine art photographer, is currently residing in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  Gutierrez attended the University of North Carolina Charlotte, The School of Visual Arts NY, and The International Academy of Design Technology where he learned photographic techniques and graphic design.  Michael Gutierrez has shown his works in galleries throughout the United States and two of his photographs reside in the University of Texas San Antonio permanent collection.
