Sondra explains, “We have brought together a cast of (8) eight very talented individuals who happen to be of Asian descent. There are currently no reality shows of this kind on TV in America. Each episode will be exciting and will break Hollywood’s stereotyping of Asian American entertainers. The Chinese delivery boy has been replaced by our Filipino - American Hiphop Artist/Producer, the martial arts expert has been replace by our Chinese - American body builder/model and the shy, passive Asian girl has been replaced by our sultry, energetic Japanese Hip-hop dancer who is set to launch her career as a recording artist. With all the reality shows on the air, we knew it was just a matter of time before someone launched a show featuring Asian - Americans in the cast. But we wanted to produce a show that was tasteful and respectful to first generation Asian - Americans. Being an Asian-American, I can truly identify with the challenges that my cast members go through in trying to succeed in the entertainment business."
The unique cast of The A-Style, will also be supported by the fact that the series is being shot in the heart of New York City, so drama as a part of reality is guaranteed. The media attention recently generated by the success of NBA player , Jeremy Lin has already demonstrated that Asian - Americans having success in areas that are unexpected creates an enormous amount of interest from the entire world. The A-Style has all the ingredients to command that same attention.
The pilot show for The A-Style is being directed by Sondra’s husband, Lorenzo Anderson. His production company, Lorenzo Anderson Productions, is also set to complete production this summer of the feature film, “Platinum Dreams”. The storyline of the film, which revolves around the making of the first Asian-American pop star, was in part, the inspiration for The A-Style series. Poyzen Productions is also in development of a TV drama with a predominantly Asian cast in the leading roles. Several cast members of The A-Style have been considered for the drama as well.
