March 12, 2012 - PRLog -- The music of Cliff Richard and friends will be featured for 32 hours this weekend on Artisan Radio (www.ArtisanRadio.com) during a marathon of “Wired For Sound Radio.”

Nearly 400 Cliff Richard tracks, more than 70 tracks by The Shadows, and well over 100 songs by other musical artists which have some tie to Cliff Richard will play on Saturday, March 17th and Sunday, March 18th from Midnight to 4 p.m. Pacific time (3 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern time; 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. GMT).

These two 16-hour blocks will be hosted by Jeff Bleiel, producer and host of “Wired For Sound: The Music of Cliff Richard,” the one-hour show (North America’s only radio program devoted to the music of Sir Cliff Richard) which airs weekly on Artisan Radio.

The “Wired For Sound Radio” marathon will feature Cliff Richard’s British and North American hits, as well as album tracks, B-sides, duets, and live recordings, spanning the period of 1958 through 2011.  Additionally, both instrumental and vocal recordings by The Shadows, Richard’s long-time musical associates, will be frequently spotlighted.

The music mix will also feature other artists’ recordings of tracks by songwriters and producers (such as Alan Tarney and John Farrar) who have been associated with Cliff Richard over the years, a smattering of early rock’n’roll classics by Cliff Richard’s biggest musical influences (such as Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Rick Nelson, The Everly Brothers), and other artists’ versions of songs that have also been recorded by Cliff Richard.

Artisan Radio’s special weekend presentation of the “Wired For Sound Radio” marathon is a pilot for a planned internet radio station that will stream 24/7 and feature the music of Cliff Richard, The Shadows, and Friends.  “Wired For Sound Radio” is tentatively scheduled to launch in the spring of 2012.

In addition to the prominent focus on the recorded legacy of Cliff Richard and The Shadows, the wide variety of other artists that will be heard on “Wired For Sound Radio” includes: Olivia Newton-John, the Tarney-Spencer Band, Beatles, Paul McCartney, Beach Boys, Brian Wilson, Rolling Stones, Herman’s Hermits, The Dave Clark Five, Cilla Black, Squeeze, Dave Edmunds, The Knack, Ramones, Flamin’ Groovies, Norrie Paramor, Lamont Dozier, Davy Jones, David Cassidy, Art Garfunkel, Elton John, Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Sheila Walsh, Larry Norman, and more.
