The conference, located at the Madison Hotel, focuses on contemporary issues as it relates to accounting and tax matters. The diverse schedule of meetings – several of which run simultaneously – offer attendees many different event topics to choose from.
Two special events include “Current Issues in Accounting and Auditing,” presented by Paula Sheppard, CPA, Chair of the Issues Committee and “Current Issues in Taxation,” presented by Sandy Zinman, CPA, President of the Westchester/
Both events focus on current issues affecting their respective topics. NCCPAP president, Lana Kupferschmid, CPA commented, “NCCPAP on the Hill is a unique opportunity to bring together accountants from all around the nation to discuss the pressing tax issues of today. We will be meeting with various congress people and visit the Internal Revenue Service to express the needs of the CPA practitioner and their clients.
NcCPAp has been an influential entity in Washington. In 2011, it played a role in the repeal of the 1099 Tax Form Bill which required all businesses to issue a 1099-MISC to any and all other businesses and non-employees who were paid more than $600 for goods or services.
In addition, in 2010 Carol Markman, CPA, acting as a representative of NCCPAP, testified before the Senate Committee on Finance regarding the future of individual tax rates as it applied to the 1986 Tax Reform Act. Her testimony focused on the impact of itemized deductions and personal exemptions being phased out on individual taxpayers.
Registration for “NCCPAP on the Hill” is now open. Reservations at the Madison Hotel must be made before April 17th, after which the block of rooms are to be released.
