Syverson Calls On Johnson To Retract Yet Another Campaign Ad

Christine Johnson spews more lies to save her seat. Senator Dave Syverson continues his track-record of standing up for the truth. YoungPros4Syverson feel like this has become a pattern with Mrs. Johnson -- desperate lies to save her seat.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 12, 2012 - ROCKFORD, IL – Negative attacks in political campaigns are nothing new, however a recent mailer sent out by Christine Johnson has taken negative ads to an entirely new level – claiming something that is outrageously false.

In her mailer, Johnson claims that Senator Dave Syverson (R-Rockford) “missed 182 days of session - 96th General Assembly Attendance Records.”

According to official State Journal records, there were a total of 144 Legislative Session days during the entire 96th General Assembly.

“I have seen many politicians stretch the truth, but Johnson’s claim is entirely inaccurate. It seems like her campaign decided to simply make up a number in attempt to discredit me and create a public outcry,” commented Syverson.  “This type of lie has no basis in fact, and she should take steps to clarify the record.  Since she appears to be so fond of robo calls, I would ask that she send a robo call out to all the voters to explain that her mailing contained a complete fabrication.”

Johnson is challenging Syverson in the upcoming Republican Primary on March 20th.  This recent mailer is at least the third such misstep by the Johnson campaign in as many weeks.  The first misstep being Johnson’s television ad that criticized Syverson for voting in favor of the Illinois Capital Infrastructure Plan, when questioned on her criticism of Syverson, Johnson admitted she favored the capital plan.  Prior to her misstep on the capital plan, Johnson, through a series of robo calls, claimed Syverson supported Blagojevich’s health plan; the legislative record is clear - Syverson never supported or voted for any Blagojevich health plan.

“For someone who has been in government as long as she has, she should know better then to mail out information containing an outright lies,” commented Syverson.  “It is truly unfortunate that some career politicians will say or do anything to keep their job. This is why the public gets frustrated with politicians.”
