“Boral TruExterior Trim is a true innovation in the exterior trim market,” said Tom Zimmerman, Director of Sales and Marketing for Boral TruExterior Trim. “Every decade or so a game-changing product is brought to market that moves the industry forward in light years and Boral TruExterior Trim is one of those. It is unlike wood composite and fiber cement products as it is not plagued by the issues associated with moisture and unlike PVC products as it maintains a high level of dimensional stability during periods of temperature changes.”
Boral will feature the new product at JLC LIVE, a residential construction event providing a unique combination of hands-on education with manufacturer exhibits. The conference and exhibition features top industry experts and events including building clinics, a design software workshop, decks and rails under construction and exhibitor demonstrations in addition to an extensive four-day educational conference covering a range of construction topics.
Boral TruExterior Trim offers an optimal solution for a variety of non-structural applications including fascia boards, soffits, frieze boards, rake boards, garage door casings, window surrounds, door trim, among many others. The product is similar to wood in that it is easy to handle, of similar weight, can be painted any color, is reversible and can be installed with the same tools. However, it provides enhanced durability and workability and is virtually free from rotting, splitting and termites.
Boral developed TruExterior Trim after several years of extensive internal and 3rd party testing. Boral produces the product from a blend of proprietary bio-based polymers and fly-ash, which ensure consistency throughout the material and virtually no moisture cycling or absorption. Boral TruExterior Trim outperforms competing products by maintaining a high level of dimensional stability during periods of moisture and temperature changes. It is ideal for ground contact, and does not require end-sealing, special adhesives, or other costly installation techniques.
A sustainable building product, Boral TruExterior Trim is supported by its current Silver Cradle to Cradle CertifiedCM mark by McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC). Boral TruExterior Trim is the first and only exterior trim product to earn the certification, having passed rigorous criteria that evaluate its safety to humans, the environment, and plan for future design. Additionally, Boral TruExterior Trim is ensured to include a minimum of 70% recycled materials as certified by the Scientific Certification System.
Boral TruExterior Trim will be on display in the JLC LIVE exhibition hall at Boral booth #845. Boral is a proud sponsor of JLC LIVE’s Green Building Stage, where experienced green builder and veteran presenter Rick Arnold shares practical, sensible and down to earth methods to help the audience stay abreast of all the latest products, codes, requirements, methodology and techniques.
