In fields all over Spotsylvania County men fought for their lives as the Northern Troops attempted to destroy the South’s Army and break the Confederates as they headed toward the Confederate Capitol of Richmond.
On May 19 & 20, 2012, battles will once again rage near Spotsylvania Courthouse during the Battles of Spotsylvania, 2012 Civil War Reenactment.
The Reenactment will take place near the Spotsylvania Courthouse Village on the W. J. Vakos Companies property at the corner of Old Battlefield Boulevard and the Spotsylvania Courthouse Bypass.
Events:
Saturday, May 19, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM with historic interpreters, sutlers, speakers and vendors.
Bringing the Civil War to life in the 21st Century. Children will learn as they experience first hand civilian and military life.
Activities: Sunday, May 20, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Battles will be held Saturday, May 19, 2:00 PM and Sunday, May 20, 1:30 PM.
