While speaking at the 82nd Geneva Motor Show, Andy Palmer, Executive Vice President of Nissan Motor Co said: "We are working on multiple options of price entry levels, particularly for the Indian market. One such option is the the development of an entry level car with Ashok Leyland and the new car would be launched by 2014".
According to the official, the new compact car would be launched in the fiercely competitive and volume-driven price range between Rs 200,000 and Rs 400,000. Nissan, which has a plant near Chennai in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu, makes Micra in the small car segment, both the petrol as well as diesel versions. Nissan Micra is being sold in the Indian market with the price tag ranging between Rs 414,000 and Rs 626,000 (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).
