The webinar, entitled “How the Anesthesia Care Team Model Can Contribute to Clinical Quality Excellence in Your OR,” highlighted the benefits of this staffing model and clarified the role of CRNAs in the collaborative care team environment. In addition, case studies from two West Coast hospitals illustrated the model’s impact in improving quality and efficiency in the operating room and lessening the burden of staffing shortages.
Featured speakers included Robert Farrar, MD, JD, vice president of medical affairs for Somnia Anesthesia; Brent Sommer, CRNA at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, CA; and Frank Schramm, MD, chief of anesthesia at Providence Regional Medical Center (PRMC) in Everett, WA.
During the webinar, Dr. Schramm explained that the change to a care team model at his hospital resulted in a reduction in the facility’s anesthesia subsidy.
