Textile Center’s Textile Garage Sale Now Even Bigger
The Textile Garage Sale has a new location at the University of Minnesota ReUse Program Warehouse

(March 8, 2012) MINNEAPOLIS—Textile Center’s Textile Garage Sale will be at the University of Minnesota ReUse Program Warehouse in Minneapolis on Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Textile Garage Sale, now in its 12th year, is moving from its previous location inside Textile Center. At the ReUse Warehouse, there will be ample space and additional parking for the many hundreds of shoppers.

The Textile Garage Sale includes hundreds of square feet of piled-high fabric, yarn, threads, notions, kits, patterns, magazines, tools, beads, buttons—even finished and unfinished textile art. Textile Center expects sewing machines, sergers, looms, knitting machines and other specialty equipment to be available for bidding in a silent auction. Admission is $1.

“The Textile Garage Sale is an important fundraiser for Textile Center—and every year it gets bigger and better,” said Margaret Miller, executive director of Textile Center. “We rely on generous supporters who donate items for the sale; we also rely on the enthusiasm of our loyal shoppers. It’s a great time to come together as a fiber art community.”

New this year, the Garage Sale includes the Fiber Frenzy Sale (formerly scheduled for February 11th), which includes finished pieces. Also, the Preview Sale takes place Friday, April 13th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.; for $25 admission, people can shop before the crowds arrive on Saturday.

Donations are accepted Thursday, April 12th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, April 13th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the ReUse Program Warehouse. For more information about the Textile Garage Sale, including directions, visit http://www.textilecentermn.org/garagesale.asp.

The University of Minnesota ReUse Program collects surplus office furniture, supplies, equipment and parts from throughout the Twin Cities Campus and makes them available to University departments or individuals for purchase.
