After learning more about Dynamic Desktop Studio, the Trust’s IT team chose to widen the scope of the project to include improving user experience. This implementation is now part of the Trust’s wider initiative to improve service delivery and make IT more responsive to the needs of its users. This includes managing access to applications and printers dynamically, so users always have the right settings, services and software available to them wherever they are logging in from. Ward Priestman, director of ICT services at Aintree NHS said, “Our clinical staff are dependent upon information technology and work in a time-sensitive environment, the time taken to access resources is critical. They work across all areas of the campus and It was therefore important that the time taken to log into PCs did not hinder staff supplying the best possible patient care. With RES Software, we have not only reduced log-in times for clinicians and provided them with access to their individual resources when they need it, but also improved the overall delivery of IT services to the whole organisation.” Aintree NHS is also currently planning its move to Microsoft Windows 7 across the Trust.
