It was recently reported by the Manchester Evening News that research carried out by the Manchester Office Agents' Forum found take-up of office space in Manchester City Centre had dropped from 1.3 million sq ft to 700,000 sq ft last year compared to 2010.
Despite the city centre market seemingly struggling, though, the study showed take-up in South Manchester improved slightly in 2011, rising to 486,000 sq ft from 483,000 sq ft.
However, Magnus has revealed that it has bucked the trend this month and actually dealt with more enquiries for the January & February period than in previous years.
The firm noted that on one day in the first two weeks of January, it received 14 enquiries for office viewings in Manchester, Cheshire and South Manchester within a period of just four hours.
What's more, the company's website - http://www.magnusuk.com - saw a 95.68% increase in traffic in January compared to December 2011.
Steve Widdowson, managing director of Magnus, commented: "Because of the uncertainty surrounding the UK and European economy at the moment, we understand that many companies are simply not ready to move into a new office. However, it seems many business owners have recognised the fact that now could be the ideal time to beat off competition and move into a new modern office while demand is typically low.
"We're not surprised to have seen enquiries for our offices in Manchester, South Manchester and Cheshire either. Growing numbers of firms are realising that the north west is a great place to build a business, with generally cheaper rent, excellent transport links and big towns and cities on their doorstep."
