Rockcital is a Rock Concert performed by music students from Rancho Canyon Music, a music school/retail store, located in Rancho Santa Margarita. The show will include more than 70 local musicians. This event is open to the public. Advance tickets are $7, available at Rancho Canyon Music.
“This really got started back in 2005, when a couple of our Guitar teachers put their students together in duos and trios for a recital,” Craig Ferguson, owner of Rancho Canyon Music, recalls, “There were drums on only 2 or 3 of the songs, but we came up with the name rockcital”, it was cool, and it stuck.” Some quick math will show that from the first show in 2005 to Rockcital #10, coming in April 2012, equals more than one per year. “Oh yeah, it was a hit right away. We’ve been trying to stay pretty consistent with doing two per year since that first one. As the years go on, we now have a certain core of players that have played the show 4, 5 times or more, and of course they’ve gotten progressively better as musicians, so the songs are starting to sound pretty amazing no matter how old the players are."
Over the years, Rockcital has grown to become one of the area’s most anticipated music events of the year. The show will feature 18 different acts, from 8 piece bands to rock power trios to Piano/Vocal duos. Musicians range in age from 7 years to adult. Rancho Canyon Music (www.ranchocanyonmusic.com)
