March 8, 2012 - PRLog -- Women are Less Lonely than Men After Divorce

According to a recent study, women are less lonely after divorce than men. In an editorial by the Sun-Herald quoting the Australian study, 48% of still-single men reported feeling lonely a year after divorce, versus 39% of still-single women during the same time period.

Divorced Men Remarry Quickly

Some analysts believe higher post-divorce loneliness and lack of community contribute to divorced men remarrying quickly.

Women Over 40 Take Longer to Regain Order In their Lives after Divorce

In contrast, a previous study about divorce suggests "it takes longer for women generally, and most particularly, women over 40, than men after separation to get their lives back to some kind of order." (Dr. Wallerstein, 1989, 2000).

Men Fair Better Financially After Divorce

One could argue it takes women longer to regain order in their lives post matrimonial split because men fair better financially after divorce. Reports cite while men's incomes increase an average of 20% the four years following divorce, women's incomes decrease by 2%.

This was the case for Sarah Owens, the main character in Sarah's Journey, a new novel by author Cassandra Black. Sarah was a supportive wife, loving mother and perfect host. She stood behind her husband as he grew his law practice from a small firm to the pinnacle of success. But after almost twenty one years of marriage, her husband announced he'd fallen in love with a younger woman. Losing her San Bernardino estate home in the divorce, Sarah travels cross-country to a small Georgia mountain town to settle in what was once their vacation home. She's suddenly alone, angry and afraid; but she must somehow gather the pieces of self and start all over again.

The Healing Process

No matter the circumstances of divorce, there is a beneficial healing process, though often difficult, at the end of the tunnel. Many professionals agree, "a new scope of stability" is often achieved after divorce -- and it often continues indefinitely.

Sarah's Journey is available in Kindle format via Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Sarahs-Journey-ebook/dp/B007DK92PY/...) and in NOOK format via Barnes & Noble.
