Saturday, March 10, 2012 10p-12a,- ChiFa EliTe and Mk Inc. presents: March Music Madness, a dedication to all 90’s classic hip hop. A music mixer to honor true hip hop pioneers, who paved the way for a movement of ingenuity, poetically expressing themselves regarding issues such as, systemic treatment, political injustice, economic disparity, and a voice heard beyond the hood. On Saturday March 10, 2012, Chifa Elite & MK designs presents-“90’s old style” from 10p-2a, an old school hip hop platform for music enthusiast, and tastemakers at the premier Creole restaurant, Le Fleur De Lis, in the heart of Bronzeville, 301 E. 43rd Street.

Hip Hop is a genre of music that combines emceeing and deejaying.  As we think about the evolution of hip hop, it’s take us back to the raw thoughts, of tagging, break-dancing, beat boxing,  graffiti, dress code etc,. Hip Hop is a lifestyle with a unique lingo. In the words of KRS- One, “hip hop is something you live, rap is something you do”. Hip hop is believed to have started in the Bronx by a DJ named Kool Herc. His style of deejaying involved reciting rhymes over instrumentals. Herc’s house parties became a phenomenon music spread through-out, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and other block party Dj’s helped spread the message of hip hop around town and gained tons of followers.

As we trace back to some of the earliest rap songs ever recorded, it includes, “King Tim III (Personality Jock ) by Fatback Band, and “Rapper’s Delight” by Sugar Hill Gang.  The latter was the commercial break-through, to draw in commercial appeal. Hip Hop is now a melting pot, where it has become more eclectic, with the cross-genre mixing of soul, jazz, pop, rock, electro, etc.  Now it’s a global International influence, which crosses various ethnicities.

ChiFa EliTe  & MK INC. will host an epic night of honoring classic hip hop.
