The Writer’s Coffee Shop rereleases Gene Doucette’s successful first novel Immortal

On March 8, prepare to learn what it would be like to live forever with Doucette’s humorous tale about Adam, the immortal man. Doucette combines elements from science fiction, fantasy, and historical fiction to create a hilarious ride through time.

March 8, 2012 - PRLog -- Surviving sixty thousand years takes cunning and more than a little luck. But in the twenty-first century, Adam confronts new dangers—someone has found out what he is, a demon is after him, and he has run out of places to hide. Worst of all, he has had entirely too much to drink.

Immortal is a first person confessional penned by a man who is immortal, but not invincible. In an artful blending of sci-fi, adventure, fantasy and humor, Immortal introduces us to a world with vampires, demons and other “magical” creatures, yet a world without actual magic.

Gene Doucette and his immortal character, Adam, have found a new home with The Writer’s Coffee Shop. Immortal was first published in October of 2010 and has received   enthusiastic reviews that can be found on numerous websites including Goodreads.com.   Reviewers cannot get enough of Doucette’s original and witty writing style.

Eric Garcia, author of Repo Men, Matchstick Men and the Anonymous Rex series states, "In creating the ageless Adam, Gene Doucette has conjured up a character as witty as he is old, and as charming as he is depraved. IMMORTAL is by turns thrilling, moving, and deeply, darkly funny."

Readers that have already become enthralled with Immortal will be happy to know that the rerelease will include a new short story titled On Gods and Succubi.

The adventures of Adam the Immortal do not end with this book. The Writer’s Coffee Shop will be publishing the second book in this series, Hellenic Immortal, in May of 2012.

In addition to ghostwriting for an immortal man, Gene Doucette has been published as a humorist with Beating Up Daddy: A Year in the Life of an Amateur Father and The Other Worst Case Scenario Survival Handbook: A Parody. He is also a screenwriter and a playwright. Gene lives in Cambridge, MA with his wife and two children.

The Writer’s Coffee Shop is an up and coming independent publisher based out of Australia. The company launched in October of 2010 with the vision of working alongside talented authors while providing quality e-books to the growing marketplace.
The Writer’s Coffee Shop has a deeper history than simply publishing books. The original site was launched in September 2009 as an online community “Where friends meet” to discuss books, blogs, serial fiction, news and more.
It didn’t take long for the community, which called The Writer’s Coffee Shop “home,” to outgrow what the site was currently providing. On January 26, 2010, The Library launched. The Library is a friendly environment in which anyone can post and read original and derivative works. The Library is also used by The Writer’s Coffee Shop Publishing House to host regular fiction writing contests.
The Writer’s Coffee Shop publishes a wide range of fiction titles and is sure to have something for everyone
