March 7, 2012 - PRLog -- This year's event, held at The Shrine Expo Center expects over 3,500 kids and their families from local communities.

About Showdown LA III:  A day of dance battles, celebrity guests, surprise performances, and non-stop entertainment for the entire family, the Jerk Movement will once again make its mark in Southern California.   This year's Showdown is also partnered with Keep on Dancing, the legendary, biggest street dance event held each year in Beijing, China.  Showdown LA III will serve as the first ever U.S.A prelims for Hip-Hop, BBoy, Popping, and Locking categories.  The winner from each category will represent the USA in the Keep on Dancing finals in Beijing.

In it's third year running, Showdown LA was created for the kids in the Jerkin community.  "With Showdown LA, we wanted to provide a safe haven and let kids know that they are able to use their skills and passion for dance in a positive way", says Jill Kim, founder and CEO of Vlado Footwear.  "The first two Showdown LA events were a huge success with over 7,500 attendees combined from all over the U.S.A", says Kim.  "It's continued growth and success are the reasons we decided to make it an annual event.  It is with great honor to partner with an amazing organization such as My Life My Power.  It is with even greater honor to announce that VLADO plans to gift shoes to (200) deserving children within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) pre-selected by the charity."

Celebrity judges include Big Time Rush personality Steven Glickman and So You Think You Can Dance's Joshua Allen with Bay area rap artist E-40 as the scheduled headliner of the event.

About My Life My Power:  MLMP was founded in 2010 by Daniel Puder, undefeated Mixed Martial Artist and WWE's Million Dollar Tough Enough Champion, as a non- profit organization with a national campaign to combat the many crisis harming today’s youth.  After hearing of the tragic news surrounding the suicides of children and teenagers who were victims of bullying and intimidation, Daniel felt a personal connection to the situation and knew that he something needed to be done to change the mindset of our youth.  Rather than simply saying a few public words about this issue, Daniel was compelled to create a program that could be implemented in the school system to prevent other similar tragedies from happening.

While MLMP began as an anti-bullying charity, it has since expanded to include other problem areas that children and teenagers face on a daily basis, all of which require the same amount of awareness. We know that at the heart of each child, is the desire to succeed in life and therefore, the MLMP program has been uniquely designed to teach kids the importance of GOAL SETTING, MENTORING, CHARACTER BUILDING, and LEADERSHIP in order to diminish the negative mindset that they have toward themselves, their peers, and their authority and ultimately lead to their own successes in life.
