Theme of C4C 2012 is to thank First Responders including NYPD and NYFD for their support both locally and nationally.
By: Eslyn C. Woodall Our goal is to raise funds to contribute to organizations which align with "Cutting For A Cure's" mission. C4C is dedicated to educating people about curable diseases through early detection, prevention and knowledge which is the cure. Denny Moe’s Superstar Barbershop will provide haircuts, live entertainment, screenings, healthy food and individual health consultation to all. The barbershop will staff 12 licensed barbers/groomers from around the world and for every haircut a high percentage of the proceeds will go towards Cutting For A Cure. C4C has partnered with St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital, NYU Medical Center, American Heart Association and Barbershop Quartet to provide free screenings to all. This years event will have a host of personal trainers and health consultants who will provide information to all patrons about healthy living and on preventing some of the illnesses that plague our community. Entertainment will be provided by several emerging and professional performers including but not limited to singing, dancing, jazz and poetry. Music will be provided by various disc jockeys and food to be sponsored and served by participating restaurants. Participating celebrities include Jerry Stackhouse of the Atlanta hawks, Carl Banks, R&B Singer Keith Sweat, Bobby Brown just to name a few. Cutting For A Cure is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that assists underserved communities and ethnic groups in improving their quality of life by providing health education and giving them access to the necessary tools and resources to live a long healthy life. As recently as 1999, the Health Census Bureau’s study showed that the life expectancy for Whites was 77 years compared to only 71 years for Blacks. Statistics have shown Black men suffer from the worst health compared to any other racial group in America! They live 7.1 years less than other racial groups and have the highest death rates for all leading causes.
