FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SAME-OC Receives 2011 Streamer Awards
The Orange County Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) was recently selected for four (4) Streamer categories:
• Emergency Preparedness Streamer
• Education and Training Streamer
• Relationships and Recognition Streamer
• Outreach and Communication Streamer
Streamers are a way for individual SAME posts to receive national recognition from SAME for their efforts in a variety of categories. The Orange County Post submitted their Awards Streamer outline of accomplishments to SAME Headquarters in Washington, DC. The Awards Streamer submission is detailed and comprehensive outlining all the activities and achievements that have been accomplished during the year. These accomplishments are significant and demonstrate the dedication and focus of the Orange County Post to supporting the mission and values of the Society of American Military Engineers.
In addition to the recognition received from SAME national, we are very pleased to have been able to support charities that are meaningful to us. Through the support of our Sponsors, Exhibitors and Members, the OC Post has contributed over $100,000 since 2009 to our charities: Operation Homefront, Armed Services YMCA, Wounded Warrior Program and the American Cancer Society. It gives us great satisfaction to give back, especially in support of our soldiers and their families. We also continue with our College Scholarship program with almost $10,000 in scholarships last year, and our mentoring and support of the disadvantaged school, Sunrise Elementary, in East LA/Boyle Heights.
SAME Orange County is one of more than 110 posts and 25,000 members worldwide that make up The Society of American Military Engineers, a non-profit professional engineering association connecting architects, engineers and builders in the public sector and private industry, uniting them to improve individual and collective capabilities. Our goal is to unite A/E/C entities and individuals in the public and private sector so that we can prepare for – and overcome – natural and manmade disasters, acts of terrorism and improve security at home and abroad.
