LONG BEACH, CA, MARCH 6, 2012:  Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Long Beach Alumnae and Cerritos Area Alumnae Chapters proudly present My Cry in the Dark: Empowering the Family on Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.  This FREE event is for the entire family and will feature dynamic speakers, breakout sessions, raffles, giveaways and lunch.  Experts will cover material that includes mental health, stress, domestic violence and more.  The event will take place at the North Long Beach Community Youth Center; 2311 South Street in Long Beach, California.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote academic excellence; to provide scholarships; to provide support to the underserved; to educate and stimulate participation in the establishment of positive public policy; and to highlight issues and provide solutions for problems in communities. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority has more than 900 chapters worldwide and has initiated over 250,000 members. The Sorority uses its Five-Point Programmatic Thrust of economic development, educational development, international awareness and involvement, physical and mental health, and political awareness and involvement to create its national programs.  Long Beach Alumnae Chapter was chartered on February 23, 1986 to serve the greater Long Beach area.  The chapter’s focus is to address the important needs of the community that are aligned with the Five-Point Programmatic Thrust.
