There is no better time than right now to become an informed consumer of Retirement Residences. Like any important decision, it takes some time, research, and preparation to make the right choice. Most people do very little preparation which can be very stressful when you are faced with a sudden need for the services offered in a Retirement Residence.

It’s often a fall, change in health, or the loss of a spouse that will prompt a move. Being prepared will avoid the need to make a hasty decision or the burden of trying to make the best decision during an emotionally or physically distressing time. Thinking “ahead” gives you time to comfortably make that adjustment and gives you plenty of time to consider prioritizing belongings without a great rush.

Having an idea of what you are looking for and where you can find it will give you peace of mind. If there is a waiting list at your Retirement Residence of choice then put your name on that list. If you get a call that a  suite has become available and you are not yet ready to make a move, then just ask that your name be moved back to the bottom of the list for a future call. In case of a change, you will always know you’ve got those plans already made.
