March 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Geneva Motor Show - HARMAN , the premium global audio and infotainment group, provides further evidence of its role in driving the future of the automobile industry. The brand new Porsche Boxster debuts in Geneva in a world premiere and HARMAN is part of this exciting moment as the roadster is equipped with the latest generation of HARMAN’s infotainment system. It combines navigation with multimedia capabilities and provides seamless connectivity to corresponding smartphones.

“We are delighted to expand our partnership with Porsche,” says Dinesh C. Paliwal, Harman’s Chairman, President and CEO. “We are honored by Porsche’s confidence in HARMAN and look forward to deliver solutions blending high performance with scalable, next-generation features for its customers around the world.”

The multimedia-driven system will offer Porsche customers a sophisticated set of features including navigation, brilliant graphics and wired or wireless connectivity. As core of the system all information is displayed on the full color 7" / 16:9 TFT touchscreen that provides perfect conditions for the HDD based GPS 3D-navigation system with full word speech dialog system. Thanks to the big HDD memory HARMAN offers a wide range of state of the art navigation features including map display with 3D city models and landscapes, automatic 3D intersection and junction zoom as well as a large variety of Points of interest (POI). As HARMAN is the global leading supplier of premium audio systems the new Porsche Boxster guaranties a first class entertainment experience: as a fully integrated solution the USB audio interface enables easy and convenient connection of USB sticks and audio players (e.g. iPod®). Alternatively the driver can chose the integrated CD/ DVD player (or integrated 6-disc DVD changer) for Audio CDs, DVD Audio and Audio from DVD Video.

HARMAN’s infotainment concepts are also designed to ensure safety as a top priority. Hence the new Porsche Boxster system provides a speech dialog system for infotainment functions including full word destination input. In addition the cell phone preparation with Bluetooth® interface (UHV) ensures seamless connectivity with the latest smartphones. A preparation for modular quad band GSM telephones with hands-free speaking and handset is an available option.
