March 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Hannover, Germany - The flagship project „Vernetztes Deutschland: GeoNachbarschaft“ („Networked Germany: GeoNeighbourhood“) under the direction of the Commission for Geo-Information Management of the German Ministry of Economics and Technology will be presented for the first time to a broader audience on March 7 at CeBIT 2012 at booth G50, hall 26. Project partners are fluid Operations®, the leading provider of innovative enterprise cloud and data management solutions based on semantic technologies, T-Systems affiliate Multimedia Solutions who develops Internet-based solutions for large corporations and mid-sized companies, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), and the Universität Leipzig (University of Leipzig).

Flagship project to promote innovation in Germany

The flagship project outlines the opportunities and challenges for establishing semantic relationships between freely available geographic information and not always freely available statistical data from various sectors, such as land use, locations, traffic, population and crime statistics. Two prototypes demonstrate the value-add for the overall economic development in Germany. These prototypes shall pave the way for new and innovative business models, products and services. "The integration and the establishment of relationships between freely available geo-data and data under license - whether open or not - offer an enormous potential for developing new solutions for various industries. I am convinced that our prototypes are appropriate drivers for this purpose," said Dr. Jörg Reichling, Managing Director of the Commission for Geo-Information Management.

Prototype “OptiImmo”

Optilmmo is the prototype of a Real Estate Portal which not only displays information about the property but also provides additional local information and relevant environmental data, such as information about kindergartens, schools, doctors in the area, noise pollution, crime rates, age structure and land use, in an integrated way. Freely available regional economic data can also be integrated. This helps companies to reach well-informed decisions when e.g. deciding where to set up new offices.

Prototype “Mobile GeoNachbarschaft”

The prototype “Mobile GeoNachbarschaft” (“Mobile GeoNeighbourhood”) is a mobile application which provides the user with more information about the immediate environment such as population density, crime rate, average salary offers or similar data, depending on the user’s location.
