Wowio Announces Corporate Rebranding To “Studio W” At 2012 SXSW Interactive Festival

March 6, 2012 - PRLog -- WOWIO, Inc., evolving from its original format as an eBook distribution platform, announced today that it is launching its newly-revamped business model as digital content strategy expert and rebranding itself as “Studio W.” The company plans to focus on the monetization of content through the creation of custom brand strategies with distribution across multiple channels.  Starting with its own library of comic book IP, Studio W will create diverse product lines and utilize both traditional and digital distribution outlets, including Studio W’s own family of websites (wowio.com, popgalaxy.com, theduckwebcomics.com).

A speaker on the panel “Publishing Models Transforming the Book,” at this year’s SXSW Interactive Festival, Studio W’s Chairman and CEO Brian Altounian will explain how Studio W’s “brand strategy” approach is helping to transform the way books are consumed. “As we have seen in recent years, the publishing industry is evolving dramatically, and this change gives birth to the opportunity to create new business models that locate talent and package content in new ways,” Altounian states.  “The Book isn’t dead...it’s just being redefined.”  

“Digital platforms have expanded the global reach for content creators and providers who can, in turn, now reach their targeted consumers directly and immediately,” Altounian continues. “Studio W plans on exploiting the model of ad-supported eBooks to provide free content which generates product awareness and ensures that the creator is compensated,” Altounian believes his company is poised for significant growth over the next 12-24 months.  “When you provide free access to content, the appetite for that brand, author or property grows, and creates a huge opportunity for alternative revenue streams such as games, apps and licensed IP.  It’s a win for the creator, the publisher and the consumer.”
