The Dallas Stars & Stand & Salute American Heroes to Honor Purple Heart Recipient

March 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Sunshine Roth, National Director of Events and Community Liaison for Stand & Salute American Heroes (SASAH), selected a wounded combat Texas veteran, a Purple Heart recipient,  SPC Daniel Bazavilvazo was a member of the Army's 3rd Infantry Division.

The Honor Event will take place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on March 10th take place during the game, during the 2nd period.

Wally York will serve as Stand & Salute American Heroes "Boots on the Ground".   Wally York's states: "Stand and Salute American Heroes takes great pride in honoring US Army Specialist Daniel Bazavilvazo March the 10th in cooperation with the Dallas Stars".

Lora Farris of The Dallas Stars states: "The Dallas Stars Organization is proud to participate in honoring Specialist Bazavilvazo at the March 10 game. We are grateful to him for his service and the sacrifice he has made for our country. This presentation is a small token of our appreciation to him and all the service men and women around the world."

In 2003 SPC Bazavilvazo was with one of the first military units in the invasion during Operation Iraqi Freedom, 3rd ID. He was only there for five months when he came abruptly under fire. Bazavilvazo had been standing watch on a roof top in Baghdad when he abruptly came under fire. He was shot twice and nearly bled to death before help arrived.

Specialist Bazavilvazo spent several weeks at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC receiving medical care. He and his three children now reside in Texas.

Stand & Salute American Heroes has been working with several NHL teams throughout the 2011-212 NHL season to team up and honor the sacrifices our Nation's Purple Heart recipients with a hockey themed award that symbolizes our Nation's appreciation for those who have been wounded in combat operations.
