Artina Sharpton, NYOIL, & Staten Island Community members empower New York City area young ladies

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 5, 2012 - Staten Island community activist Artina Sharpton, in conjunction with hip hop artist and community activist, NYOIL, present The 3rd Annual Blackbird Fly Festival and Ball, a two day distinctive event for young women to facilitate cultural, social and personal growth through exposure to positive alternative lifestyles available to them. The 3rd Annual Blackbird Fly Festival and Ball will take place on March 24th and March 25th, 2012 providing over two hundred young women ages 10 – 21, with FREE guidance, mentoring, and development.  In it’s third successful year the event organizers have teamed up with the non-profit organization Men Who Build, Incorporated.

Every March, since 2009 Women’s History Month has been celebrated internationally. Blackbird Fly will contribute by celebrating the young ladies that are defining the present.  The first day of activities, BB Fest will take place at Faber State Park from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm on March 24, 2012. Simultaneous, mind-provoking workshops will take place covering socioeconomic topics, domestic violence, health, fashion, and more. March 25, 2012 Labetti Post located at 390 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY, 10301 will host the annual gala.
