March 5, 2012 - PRLog -- David approached SHMU independently seeking the opportunity to gain radio experience. Since his initial approach he has gained a great insight into the way radio works, getting the opportunity to use the radio studio equipment and changing tracks / music using the specialist equipment at the station.

As part of this, David is currently undertaking a training programme with SHMU ahead of his first set on air along with his friend Kenny in mid March. David and Kenny will be hosting a request show and are currently seeking requests for the show, with the response so far proving to be a big success with requests ranging from 60’s and 70’s to modern pop music.

David says: “I am very glad of the opportunity SHMU has given me to gain hands on experience within their radio station. I can’t wait to use the skills I have learned whilst at SHMU and broadcast my first show on the 10th March, don’t miss it and be sure to get your requests in for the show!”

Fiona Poustie, Head of Business Development & Communications at Inspire, continues: “We are delighted that David has been opportunity to use the facilities at SHMU to develop his radio skills in a professional environment and can’t wait to hear his first live show on the 10th. Don’t miss it!”

Alongside this fantastic radio spot, David regularly contributes to SHMU’s shows, including participating in discussions on disability legislation and laws as well as creating jingles for the station including “Welcome to SHMU FM”. This experience has proved invaluable to David’s understanding of radio, and is now a regular DJ at the Hilton Community Centre every Saturday using the skills he has developed at SHMU.

Nikki Morris, Station Manager at SHMU, is delighted that the show is becoming part of the stations schedule. “We are very excited about David and Kenny becoming part of the team here. The request show will be a fantastic addition and we hope that lots of requests will come flooding in. If anyone else would like to get involved at shmuFM – just get in touch with us!”

David and Kenny's request show airs on shmuFM 99.8FM from Saturday 10th March with a weekly time slot of 1pm - 2pm and will be looking for people to get their requests in by filling in David and Kenny’s request books.
