Sportingbet is to sponsor the event, which has been held annually since 1981. This year the organisers, Guernsey Island Amateur Athletics Club (GIAAC), have revised the course to finish in the heart of the island’s capital. A seafront closure is set to ensure a bigger-than-
St Peter Port’s harbour will be the perfect ending to a scenic route which starts in the south-west corner of Guernsey, following the coastal road north past some of its most beautiful bays and then turning east across the top of the island towards the town. More than 300 runners are expected to take part.
Local marathon runner and Olympic hopeful Lee Merrien is supporting the GIAAC and local runners. In the weeks leading up to the half marathon he will be providing training schedules based on his own experiences as an athlete and coach.
