Electrical Contractor Charges Up Green Image

(LEI) is a fully bonded, licensed and insured electrical contractor serving clients throughout the tri-state area.  The company recently began the process of becoming green business certified by enrolling with the Green Business Bureau (GBB).
“At LEI, we posses a strong sense of responsibility to our environment and energy supply,” says Paul C. Lippolis, LEI’s Green Project Manager.  “Over the past several years, we have completed many green initiatives in our own office as well as taking on a variety of green projects in the electrical construction industry.”
LEI’s list of green initiatives is extensive and includes such green activities as: installing energy efficient office lighting, recycling, switching to reusable products in kitchens and bathrooms, encouraging employee carpools, and discontinuing the practices of printing emails.  LEI is also a certified installer for Con Edison’s Small Business Direct Installation program as well as other energy-efficiency programs.  Through the Small Business Direct Installation program, the company has helped businesses in the area save 10,000,000 kilowatt hours per year, returning that energy to the community’s grid.
It was this experience that led LEI to seek out an organization that would endorse, and help promote, its green activities.
“We joined the GBB to gain exposure as a green business that uses sustainable technology both in our office and in the field,” says Lippolis.
Lippolis goes onto say that the company chose the GBB because it offers a wide variety of marketing materials and resources to its members, and because of its growing reputation.  The GBB is a nationally‐recognized, third‐party program providing certification for businesses that follow environmentally responsible practices.
“We’re looking forward to other businesses taking notice of what we are doing here and following our example in going green,” says Lippolis.
