Café Fina and Domenico’s on the Wharf Declare March as King Crab Month
Celebrate by trying one of six incredible King Crab specials!

Monterey, Calif. – March is officially King Crab Month at Café Fina and Domenico’s on the Wharf in Monterey, Calif., and, in celebration, both restaurants will be serving up King Crab specials all month long. These two restaurants will be the only ones on the Monterey Peninsula serving the coveted Blue King Crab.

Straight from Alaska to the tables of Domenico’s on the Wharf and Café Fina, this rare crab is a delicacy Café Fina and Domenico’s on the Wharf owner Dominic Mercurio is eager to share with his guests.

“King Crab is so sweet and flavorful, like lobster; you don’t have to do much to it,” said Mercurio.

Blue King Crab can only be caught in the coldest waters of Alaska near St. Matthew Island and the Pribilof Islands in the Bering Sea. Blue King Crab is known for its sweet meat and giant claws. Although it is similar to Red King Crab, it has a more mild taste to it. The King Crab served at Mercurio’s restaurants comes directly from the F/V Time Bandit crabbing boat, made famous on the Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch.

At Café Fina, the King Crab will be prepared in two different ways: King Crab Fettuccini and Fire Roasted King Crab with Garlic Butter. At Domenico’s on the Wharf, there will be four different crab specials: Fit For a King Crab Salad, Sautéed King Crab Scampi Style, Ultimate King Crab Cioppino and the traditional Steamed King Crab with Butter.

King Crab Month is the first of many featured months planned for the rest of 2012 at Café Fina and Domenico’s on the Wharf.

Both Café Fina and Domenico’s on the Wharf are located on Monterey’s Old Fisherman’s Wharf.  The restaurants are open for lunch and dinner, Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to closing; Saturday through Sunday 11 a.m. to closing.  For more information, please visit www.cafefina.com or www.domenicosmonterey.com.
