Fashion Designers United Roundtable and Conference 2012

April 4, 2012 - PRLog -- A day of fashion and connecting-the-connects of the fashion and entertainment industry! On April 19, 2012, Fashion Designers United (FDU) , hosted by MyMeApparel and HGreaves Photography, will hold the one day FDU Roundtable & Conference 2012, at the Downtown Conference Center, at 6701 Church Street, Douglasville, GA.  The conference begins at 9:00am and will wrap up at approximately 11:00pm.   The purpose of  the FDU Roundtable and Conference 2012 is to promote growth and success, individually and collectively, in the fashion and entertainment industry.  Designers and models will be competing for a total of $10,000 in service prize packages!  Ten fashion and entertainment industry individuals, along with one additional People's Choice winner, will also be awarded with a Dillard Award!  Guest sponsors and vendors will have plenty of wares to share with attendees.

FDU Roundtable and Conference 2012 is a a one-day conference that is full of fashion: a designer roundtable, model call, industry mixer, trunk show, fashion display, designer & model competitions and awards ceremony!  

The designer roundtable, scheduled for 9am-11:00am, is closed, for the competing fashion designers only. It will be videotaped.  Solution driven discussions will be regarding challenges of today’s fashion designers.  Competing Designers are: Brick Malone of Chicago IL, Denise Sparks of Louisville KY, Michele Walden McPhee of Hollis NY, Wendy Striggles of Atlanta GA and Yolanda Knight of Atlanta GA.

An open model call will take place at the Downtown Conference Center Annex at the Downtown Conference Center Annex at 6697 Church Street Douglasville, GA 30134.  The open model call will be held from 11:00 am - 12:00noon.  Competing designers are seeking female models 5'6 and up, sizes 2, 4, 6 18 or 20, male models 6' and up and fit.  All presenting models are asked to wear black tank and black legging/pants with heels(women)/dress shoe(men).  Minors must be accompanied by legal guardian who is willing and able to provide written parental consent. All presenting models should be prepared to walk, provide portfolio/photos and have a complete model bad (variety of shoes and accessories).  If selected, model must be available for remaining of evening to compete and participate in photo shoot & fashion display.  

The industry mixer luncheon, opened to the public will be held at 12:00noon to 3:00pm at the Downtown Conference Center Grand Ballroom 6701 Church Street, Douglasville, GA 30134.  Free lunch will be provided for attendees arriving between 12:00noon and 1:00pm.

Private buyer and media meetings will be held d at the Downtown Conference Center Meeting Room at 6701 Church Street, Douglasville, GA 30134 between 12:00noon and 3:00pm.  HGreaves Photography will also be conducting individual photo shoots for each designer, her model and hair/makeup provider during this time.

A Judges Trunk Show will take place at Una Vida Boutique, 6706 East Broad Street Douglasville GA at 3pm. Designers coming from multiple states will be displaying their fashions at Downtown Conference Center, Douglasville, GA 30134 at 6:30pm. The judges are: Valeri Reaves of MyMeApparel Fashion House and Model Booking Service; Harold Greaves of HGreaves Photography; BCombs of BCombs Celebrity Hairstylist-Platform Artist; Cotrice Addison of The Cotrice Collection; and special guest Edward Dillard of Edward Dillard of Louisville, LLC.

The designers fashion display will begin at 6:30pm, at the Downtown Conference Center Grand Ballroom  6701 Church Street Douglasville GA 30134.  Directly followed by the Designer & Models Competition Awards Ceremony and Dillard Awards presentation.  

The Dillard Award is awarded to individuals in the fashion and entertainment industry that exhibit a passion for his/her craft, a familial spirit towards others in the industry, and has exhibited continuous effort to share knowledge in his/her field and areas of expertise.  The benefactor of the Dillard Awards is Edward Dillard of Edward Dillard of Louisville, LLC.  The Dillard Awards winners are: Cedric Frazer, Dwight Eubanks, Ms. Nickee Mack, Alesha Coleman, Aric Thompson, Dasie Thames, K Renee Iryss, Marie China Auguste, Monica Pearson and Toby Roybal.  The People’s Choice Dillard Award winner is Daquan Bryant.
