“Venturing is actually quite an awesome program. I go caving, scuba diving, backpacking and take wilderness survival trips every year with my crew. I get to rappel down cliffs that would probably make you cry just looking over them; and during one caving trip, my crew got lost and found a bear skeleton… which was pretty epic,” exclaims Hannah Paterka, president of the Alamo Area Council Venturing Officer’
“We have a great number of girls participating in Scouting within both our high adventure Venturing program and career-oriented Exploring!” says Michael de los Santos, Scout Executive for the Alamo Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.
The co-ed Crew which involves fun with friends, leadership, and service is for young men and women ages 14-20. Thirteen year olds can also join if they have completed the 8th grade. The yearly membership fee is only $15 and the next organizational meeting will be Tuesday, March 6th at 6:00 PM at 1st Christian Church of Kerrville located at 1900 Goat Creek Road.
