By: FRANdata Continued Growth: Franchising In the Home Healthcare Sector, which provides the only comprehensive analysis of franchising in the home healthcare industry, found that the franchising model is still not being fully utilized in the industry, leaving enormous potential for additional growth and emergence of a leader in the industry. According to the study, franchised brands are actually growing at a faster rate than non-franchised brands with the number of franchised home healthcare offices growing 13% annually from 2006-2010. A record number of new home healthcare franchise brands also entered the industry in 2010 and as of 2011 there are at least 60 franchising concepts in the home healthcare sector. That represents 18% of the home healthcare market, but accounts for only 5% of revenues. Despite this rapid expansion, franchising still represents a relatively small portion of the home healthcare market and no market leader has emerged leaving significant opportunity for mainstream healthcare brands to capitalize on the trend. "Franchising is booming in the home healthcare sector," said FRANdata President and CEO Darrell Johnson. "But a significant portion of the market is up for grabs and an enterprising company could easily step in and become the industry leader." The study conducted by the Arlington-Va.- The main portion of the study is an exhaustive survey of the home healthcare franchising industry. It covers the emergence of new brands, performance evaluations of franchised brands, the size and growth of the franchise system, services provided, franchisor financial performance information including average franchisor EBITDA and EBT data, and system continuity.
