FRANdata (www.frandata.com) today released the industry report "Continued Growth: Franchising In the Home Healthcare Sector," which found that there is enormous potential for additional growth and emergence of a franchise leader in the industry.

Feb. 29, 2012 - PRLog -- (ARLINGTON, Va.) -  The franchise business model is rapidly expanding in the home healthcare industry and will continue to do so as demand for services is expected to increase, according to a new report released today by FRANdata.

Continued Growth: Franchising In the Home Healthcare Sector, which provides the only comprehensive analysis of franchising in the home healthcare industry, found that the franchising model is still not being fully utilized in the industry, leaving enormous potential for additional growth and emergence of a leader in the industry.

According to the study, franchised brands are actually growing at a faster rate than non-franchised brands with the number of franchised home healthcare offices growing 13% annually from 2006-2010. A record number of new home healthcare franchise brands also entered the industry in 2010 and as of 2011 there are at least 60 franchising concepts in the home healthcare sector. That represents 18% of the home healthcare market, but accounts for only 5% of revenues.

Despite this rapid expansion, franchising still represents a relatively small portion of the home healthcare market and no market leader has emerged leaving significant opportunity for mainstream healthcare brands to capitalize on the trend.

"Franchising is booming in the home healthcare sector," said FRANdata President and CEO Darrell Johnson. "But a significant portion of the market is up for grabs and an enterprising company could easily step in and become the industry leader."

The study conducted by the Arlington-Va.-based company includes an analysis of the home health care industry which is one of the fastest growing segments of the U.S. economy, growing 12% annually from 2006-2008 with a 4% annual increase in employment during the same period. Aging baby boomers, the new federal healthcare law, and cheaper costs are increasing the demand for in home healthcare leading to continued growth in the sector.
