As the nephew of the late Hon. Louis Bennett Coverley, Stevenson believes this is an ideal time to commemorate these dynamic people whose “invaluable and distinguished contributions to our community remain prominent. Assemblyman Stevenson has consistently fought for the improvement of our communities, families and businesses. As a strong advocate for the redevelopment of our community and improvement of the American people, Stevenson works tirelessly to make an impact in Albany to help African Americans and Latinos in our community . "Leadership to move the community forward" is one of the mantra he lives by. He follows in the footsteps of his grandfather, the Late Hon Edward A Stevenson Sr, who held the 79th District seat Stevenson holds today and was the first Jamaican born assemblymember in the 60’s. Assemblyman Eric Stevenson understands and appreciates the struggles we face together and he is determined to continue the struggle that his grandfather started.
