Devon Prep Students Deliver Gifts To Needy Families In North Philadelphia

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 28, 2012 - During the weeks before Christmas Devon Prep’s Christian Action Program (CAP) sponsored a Giving Tree collection of gifts for those less fortunate. With the help of students, faculty, staff, and parents, CAP collected nearly 200 gifts, including new clothing, hats, gloves, towels, and gift certificates. Several students delivered the wrapped packages to St. Elizabeth's Community Center in North Philadelphia where they were distributed to needy families.   

More than 50 students in grades six through 12 participate in CAP, which provides students with the opportunity to care for and help those less fortunate. In addition to collecting holiday gifts, the students involved in CAP also run a Thanksgiving food drive, sponsor fundraisers for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, collect school supplies for inner-city students in need, host a Christmas party for residents of St. Edmond's Home, participate in area fundraisers, and run clothing drives for those in need.

Devon Prep is a private Catholic college preparatory school for young men in grades six through 12 conducted by the Piarist Fathers.
