PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 28, 2012 - Attorney Evan Guthrie of the Evan Guthrie Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina helped lead The Dorchester Habit For Humanity Wills Clinic at the Dorchester Habit For Humanity ReStore in Summerville, SC on Saturday  February 25th 2012. The Summerville Habit For Humanity Wills Clinic was sponsored through the Young Lawyers Division of the South Carolina Bar and is one of many activities that the division promotes. The Habit For Humanity Wills Clinic is designed to help provide estate planning documents at no cost to homeowners in the Habitat For Humanity program. These estate planning documents include the option for a simple will, a living will, and a healthcare power of attorney.

The homeowners of Habitat For Humanity are especially vulnerable to losing their homes if one of them should pass as many are first time homeowners. If a will is in place the probate court process is much easier and the homeowners can pass on the home to loved ones in a simpler way.

There were many attorney and legal volunteers that participated in drafting and witnessing the documents that came from all across the state. Dorchester County Probate Court Judge Mary Blunt which encompasses much of Summerville also made an appearance to speak to homeowners and answer questions. The homeowners appreciated the work of the volunteers and felt relieved to have a difficult part of the home owning process handled in making a will. Attorney Evan Guthrie thanked all of the volunteers and homeowners for making the event a success.
