The Landing School Hosts Public Cruising Seminar and Marine Service Management Course

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 28, 2012 - The Landing School, a post-secondary institution focused on educating tomorrow’s marine industry professionals, is pleased to announce that they be hosting two events in the coming month that will work to education the public and marine professionals alike in the areas of sailing seamanship skills and marine service management. In addition, The School has announced additional open house dates to be held February through August.

North U Seminar
In cooperation with North U, The Landing School will be hosting a Cruising Seminar, March 3, 2012 from 9am to 5pm. This course aims to help attendees learn to sail well with the seamanship skills necessary to deal with challenges, prevent problems and respond to emergencies. Attendees will learn:
•   Upwind and downwind sail trim
•   Gennaker and snuffer use
•   Heavy weather sailing
•   Heaving to
•   Anchoring
•   Night cruising skills
•   Safety and emergency procedure
•   And more

ABBRA Seminar
In cooperation with the American Boat Buildings and Repairers Association (ABBRA), The Landing School will be hosting a Marine Service Management Course, February 29 – March 3, 2012.  This course is designed to meet the needs of Boatyards and Marine Service Centers by providing management training for individuals presently working in or working toward leadership roles. An opening reception commences the course on Wednesday evening, February 29 at 6:00pm. This gives students an opportunity to get to know the other participants and their facilities.  Class sessions begin with breakfast on Thursday morning at 7:00am and continue until mid-afternoon Saturday, March 3.
