Feb. 28, 2012 - PRLog -- KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) at ETSU and the Kingsport Office of Small Business Development & Entrepreneurship (KOSBE) will host a free Small Business Inventory Control Class – Prevent Retail Theft on Tuesday, March 20 from 9 – 11 a.m. at the Kingsport Center for Higher Education, 300 W. Market Street, Room #130, downtown Kingsport.
The workshop is offered free of cost, but registration is required.
“According to the latest loss prevention studies, theft and fraud can take as much as ten percent out of every sales dollar,” said Aundrea Wilcox, senior business counselor with the Tennessee Business Development Center at East Tennessee State University Kingsport Affiliate Office and executive director of KOSBE. “So, if your business does $1 million in sales throughout the year, on average your business could lose $100,000 to business theft—even if you have no physical merchandise available to the public and no face-to-face cash transactions.”

This course for startups as well as existing established businesses covers internal theft as well as consumer shoplifting, whether you have a retail store, restaurant, bar, or you’re operating an e-commerce web site.  No matter what type of business you run, you should be concerned with loss prevention and inventory control.

The course will provide solutions to identifying problems and minimizing losses than can put you out of business sooner than you think.

Presenters include: Aundrea Wilcox, senior business counselor with the Tennessee Business Development Center at East Tennessee State University Kingsport Affiliate Office and executive director of KOSBE and experts in the fields of security and loss prevention.

The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Advanced registration is required and must be received by March 19, 2012. Anyone interested can register online at kosbe.org or call (423) 392-8825 for more information.
