PRLog - Feb. 28, 2012 - ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Rochester, New York — You’ve seen them on TV. You’ve read about them in the paper. Professional organizers provide an invaluable service to time-crunched home and business owners. Whether it’s your garage, closets, business paper or computer files, memorabilia, or any other area where you feel overwhelmed, a professional organizer can provide ideas, information, structure, systems, and solutions that can increase your productivity, reduce stress, and lead to more control over time, space, and activities.
Cut Clutter Now
The National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), “The Organizing Authority®” since 1985, represents thousands of experts in organizing solutions for individuals and businesses. Local NAPO professional organizer, Lynn Kendrot of Cut Clutter Now offers the following organizing tips:
1.) Since the first step with anything is always the hardest step, Think Small. Begin your organizing with small projects that will show results immediately. Many of these projects can be done in less than 30 minutes. In the kitchen – organize your pots and pans cupboard (a small dish pan rack is a great way to organize your lids). Tackle the kitchen drawers one at a time – there are some great adjustable drawer organizers available in either bamboo or plastic. Clean out, wipe down, and organize the refrigerator.
2.) As you are organizing, keep these thoughts in mind. Keep, Donate, Sell, Shred and Recycle. There are lots of great sources to donate, sell and recycle the items you no longer need. Have you used the item in the last two years? Do you really need some of the clothing you have kept for years? Some styles are classics and others are fads that you wouldn’t wear again.
3.) For those items that you are keeping, consider storage solutions to optimize space and improve the aesthetic appearance of your home or office. Holiday decorations used once a year can be stored in plastic bins and kept in an out of the way area. Store magazines inside an ottoman or in a basket. Recycle your magazines by donating to your doctor’s office, break-room at work, or for the waiting room of your mechanic.
4.) Scanning has become an easy way for everyone to reduce paper. Photo storage boxes come in a variety of colors and material. Use these to maintain your home photos. Be sure to transfer your photos trapped inside old floppy disks to DVD.
