But beyond that easy-going Hollywood smile is a strategic machine who delivers no-nonsense financial advice with the tact and precision of, well, a Soldier of Finance. I recently caught up with Jeff to ask him about his latest deployment into the world of Video Marketing after he went through the online course, Video Traffic Academy, created by Online and Video Strategist, James Wedmore. I wanted to find out just what kind of results he experienced after taking the course and implementing the strategies, and what sort of advice he would offer to other businesses curious about how to sell with video.

As of today Jeff’s YouTube Channel, which is the Hub of his video marketing efforts, (http://www.youtube.com/user/goodfinancialcents?feature=watch) has a total of 111 videos uploaded, 1419 Channel Subscribers and well over 52,000 views for his series of informational videos on the subject of personal finance and how to cook a mean bowl of chili!

Here is what Jeff Rose had to say about online marketing for your business:

Dawn: Did you use video in your business before VTA (Video Traffic Academy)?

Jeff:  I dabbled in video a bit, but really didn’t have any true game plan to what I was doing.

Dawn: How do you think video has helped tell your story or better showcase your business?

Jeff: For me, video just feels more natural. I’ve had a blog going for three and a half years and while at times I do enjoy writing, it drains me. It uses all available brain resources just to crank out a 500 word article, but for me to speak on a given topic for two to three minutes, takes little brain power at all.

Dawn:  What kind of successes have you experienced once you started using what you learned with Video Traffic Academy?

Jeff: By using You Tube’s analytics function, I was amazed to see the results. For the nine months prior to joining VTA, I had a total of 38,000 views on my You Tube channel and gained maybe thirty new subscribers. In half the time, so just in four and a half months after joining VTA, my total views were over 40,000, so 2000 more in half of the time and my new subscribers were up about 1200, which is just mind blowing.

As far as conversions, I’ve had at least two or three people contact me directly, either from watching my video on You Tube or seeing my videos as I’ve strategically placed them on my blog, Twitter, and Facebook. It was exciting to hear that the people who contacted me said that it was my video that was the main reason for them calling me directly. That inspiration to pick up the phone because of that video would never have been done, if it had not been for VTA.

Dawn: So, you were able to get some useful conversion tips and tactics from the online marketing  course, that’s great.  What are the top video marketing tips that you’ve learned through Video Traffic Academy that you think would also help other businesses?

Jeff: I think the first tip is that most people take for granted the knowledge that we have. As a service provider, I get a lot of the same questions from many different people. It’s so easy to film a short video answering those questions or those concerns and that can be a resource for not only that one customer but for potential new customers coming on board.

Number two: You don’t have to have a professional production Hollywood crew to make good videos. There’s a lot of good equipment that’s inexpensive that will serve its purpose.

Dawn:  Is using video in your business easier or harder than you initially believed?

Jeff: With anything, there’s definitely a learning curve in getting started with video marketing. What camera to buy, how do you edit, how do you do it, period. Once you invest some time doing a little research, you will be pleasantly surprised to know that it’s not that hard at all, especially with a course like VTA to help with the strategy. You can start cranking out awesome videos in no time flat.
