Feb. 27, 2012 - PRLog -- The reviews are in and The Swedish Gypsy has been deemed “difficult to put down.” This captivating historical novel is set in turn-of-the-century Stockholm and in rural Gypsy camps throughout Sweden during the years 1897 to 1911. It is a mesmerizing story of romance, death, and turmoil that involves Fredrik, a successful married businessman who hires Lily, a beautiful young woman, to work at his café.

After a customer complaint, he learns that Lilly is a Gypsy, but Frederick keeps her on as a fortuneteller. Fascinated with her culture and her beauty, Fredrik and Lily become lovers, jeopardizing not only his family, but his very life. The book portrays an engrossing picture of Gypsy culture.

“I just finished The Swedish Gypsy and must say, it was difficult to put down … Mary Paulson has written an outstanding story that will enthrall any lover of history. I've read extensively about the European Gypsy, but knew little of those in Sweden. Her mention of the food made me hungry, her writing of the labor strife made me yearn for more information about the political climate of the times, and Fredrik’s urgent migration to America made me wonder how many others arrived on America’s shores for similar reasons.” – Linda Thompson, host of www.AuthorsWebTV.com and president of Life Path Solutions, Inc., recommends The Swedish Gypsy as a fascinating and educational book for all.

The Swedish Gypsy has also been reviewed by the Historical Novel Society. The review can be found at http://historicalnovelsociety.org/hnr-online.htm under the August 2009 reviews at http://historicalnovelsociety.org/hnr-online-aug-2009.htm.
