India, the holy land of many sages and religions, was traditionally closer to God/ Ishwar. But the situation seems to be changing fast. The vast majority of the huge population, especially the so called 'public men' and the religious are running after worldly wealth and position. Disgruntled sections of youth have turned to terrorism and disruptive works. Where is India heading? Is it becoming a Satan settled land?
A Pastoral Visit is a poem, which reminds us of Paradise Lost and The Divine Comedy....We live in an age of hurry, worry and tension. We have no time to sit back, think and meditate. In these times, to write such a poem is truly heroic and adventurous. I am sure, after reading through this poem, the reader will come out fully refreshed and energized. -K.V. Baby, Malayalam Poet
The epic is perhaps a genre of the bygone days and modern poets are reluctant, rather afraid, to compose it; yet we all read and enjoy it with a sort of awful reverence at the confidence and courage of the poet who dared to undertake such a grand task....Each canto of this epic offers us exclusive thrills of excellent travestying. Despite the poignant satiric elements, especially in the second canto, cynicism and irony seem to be the persistent notes, and this would be sufficient for our supposed conscience-keepers of a conservative society to raise their brows at his sharp criticism of moral decadence. However, one cannot ignore the terrific honesty with which Thom George portrays the events that exemplify the degradation of our religious institutions. -Alexander Raju, Indian English poet and novelist
