For Korean Artist Soojin Hong Life is the Medium

NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Korean artist, Soojin Hong in East Meets West: An Exhibition of Fine Art from Asia.

PRLog - Feb. 27, 2012 - NEW YORK -- Award-winning artist Soojin Hong takes her painting very personally. Her work is a veritable extension of her self. Her vivacious abstract paintings pour out spontaneously, becoming relics of her consciousness. Her natural ability for color is clear. Deep crimson, rose petal pink, hunter orange, and vivid ultramarine forcefully demand the attention of our eyes and appeal to our souls. Hong is at her best when she is working the surface of the canvas, playfully scratching, daubing and smearing the surface with the utmost gusto. This wonderfully expressive surface treatment provides a sense of rhythm and harmony for each piece. The artist has a musical background, which accounts for the overarching symphonic aesthetic that she has cultivated. Through Hong’s art we can peer into her creative process and even her spirit, as each motion, large or small, is recorded as part of the complete composition. “Artworks are more than just artworks to me,” she explains “because my whole life is melted in them.”
Soojin Hong lives and works in Seoul.

About the Exhibition

The days may still seem short, but the artwork displayed at Agora Gallery this March will bring light, warmth and a sense of freshness to your day. Let yourself experience a new way of viewing the world through the work displayed in East Meets West: an Exhibition of Fine Art from Asia, in which talented Asian artists unite their personal abilities with their sensitivity to universal affairs, to create art which is often informed by their cultural heritage. Unbound Perspectives provides new insight into the world we live in, as the artists tread the delicate line between realism and optimism to show us both what is and what could be. In Reverie of Form takes us on a journey of discovery and delight that nonetheless relates to aspects of shared human experience, hinting gently at the wonder that we often ignore.
