Email exchange with Lady Lucan for 18 months – Lord Lucan might have returned to UK and died

Feb. 25, 2012 - PRLog -- Kathleen McKenna, the American writer of factional treatments of such causes célèbres as the Charles Manson cult killings, the Jonestown Massacre and the death of Johnson & Johnson 'heirhead' Casey Johnson, was pointed towards the Lord Lucan case by American faction pioneer Dominick Dunne.

At the time, Mr Dunne was dying of cancer and was despondent that his book about the O.J. Simpson case had come to nothing as a result of the jury verdict acquitting O.J. Simpson of murder, so he passed his notes over to Ms. McKenna who contacted and befriended Lady Lucan as an American woman casually fascinated by the story. Ms. McKenna did not write the first paragraph of her eventual book, 'Dark Green Nights', based on speculations arising during these exchanges, until some twelve years after the e-mail exchanges with Lady Lucan took place.

What Ms. McKenna learnt during those 18 months of e-mails was that if Lord Lucan had not killed himself following the death of Sandra Rivett, he was most likely to have hidden out on the South American estates of Jimmy Goldsmith who was selling his business interests there at the time and that there were insider rumours that Lord Lucan had in fact returned to the UK over a decade after the Sandra Rivett killing, wishing to see his children, but had died before he could meet them and was buried privately.

Ms. Mckenna worked up these speculations in her book 'Dark Green Nights' which is a factionalised biography based on Lady Lucan's life story up until the speculated death of her husband. The book is slated to be published by Nothing But Publishing Ltd but has been withheld from publication for the time-being because of the strong possibility of libel actions being brought against the author, especially in relation to the rumoured manner of Lord Lucan's death.

The recent BBC revelations that Lord Lucan might have observed his children in Africa would  support the idea that Lord Lucan loved the idea of his children and wanted to have some contact with them but on a different continent from where he was hiding. The selling of his watch in Africa appears to have been an attempted decoy. Lady Lucan has claimed publicly that Lord Lucan would not want to live outside Britain, being a man of fastidious British aristocratic habits. However, high society in parts of South America mirrors an aristocratic European way of life and Lord Lucan might conceivably have supported such society for a period of time, planning to return to the UK when he had been declared dead.

'Dark Green Nights' is currently in the editing process awaiting developments that will allow it to be published without attracting defamation suits.

Ms. McKenna's research technique for her factions is exemplary. For the Charles Manson story, 'Family Matters', she became a penfriend of Charles Manson himself, as she remains to this day,  and interviewed Susan Atkins who participated in the murder of Sharon Tate. For her book about the Jonestown Massacre, 'Jungle Rot', she interviewed 500 people associated with Jonestown and befriended Stephan Jones, the son of the Reverend Jim Jones, who persuaded her to change substantial parts of her book to make his father better reflect the charismatic man he was. She is currently working on a recent high profile American scandal. However, the speculations arising from the ongoing e-mail conversation with Lady Lucan about what could have happened to Lord Lucan should he have fled rather than killed himself have not been independently checked or verified.
