If she’s not watching Cardinals baseball, L.S. Murphy is penning tales or reading. In her latest story, Reaper, Quincy Amarante is Ms. Murphy’s character of choice, a regular girl, with normal-people problems, who just happens to be the Grim Reaper. Or, one of them.
“When we first read Reaper, the story concept and the idea behind making a young, vivacious sixteen-year old the Grim Reaper, we were completely thrown,” says J. Taylor Publishing, adding, “And we loved it. Grim reapers are old and tall, carry scythes and show people that they are dead. They aren’t some blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl. From that moment on, we couldn’t stop reading.”
In the story, Ms. Murphy sets Quincy on an adventure she wants nothing to do with including a cast of characters that will make a reader chuckle, get angry and very likely cry.
“While the book is an urban fantasy, Ms. Murphy has included scenes and situations which are very relevant to teens today. These include changes in relationships, teen bullying, abuse and ultimately death. It’s how Ms. Murphy takes the reader through Quincy’s introduction-
L.S. Murphy lives in the Greater St. Louis area. When not writing, she tends to her menagerie of pets as well as her daughter and husband. She’s been previously published in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Just for Teenagers, UnCONventional, an anthology from Spencer Hill Press and in the Detritus Anthology from Omnium Gatherum.
Reaper is Ms. Murphy’s first novel.
“We’re very excited to add Reaper to our catalog,” says J. Taylor Publishing.
