Annual General Meeting to provide first-hand insight into the future of German investment in the US

Annual General Meeting will bring together leaders and executives from the German-American business community to discuss the essential role trans-Atlantic relationships play in many industries that drive business growth in the southern U.S.

PRLog - Feb. 24, 2012 - ATLANTA -- On May 7, 2012 in Huntsville, Alabama, the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern United States, Inc. (GACC South) will bring together leaders and executives from the German-American business community to discuss the essential role trans-Atlantic relationships play in many industries that drive business growth in the southern U.S. The meeting will examine the future of German investment in the region from the standpoint of those that cultivate it on a daily basis. Foreign investment in the U.S. is a major driver of economic development and job creation.

Dialogue on this and other topics will begin during breakfast with guest speaker John Norris, Head of Wealth Management at Oakworth Capital Bank , and continue with a German Executive roundtable discussion to be moderated by AGCO Corporation Chairman, President and CEO Martin Richenhagen . The keynote luncheon will present insights from Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. President and CEO Markus Shäfer.

Members of the GACC South will have the opportunity to vote for candidates vying for open seats on the Board of Directors. The results will be announced during a dinner reception at the conclusion of the day’s program.

Attendees can also look forward to meeting new GACC South President and CEO Martina Stegmeier , who will officially join the GACC South this March.

The majority of the day’s events are open to the public. Non-members are welcome to attend the business program and network with members of the German-American business community. The program will be held at the Westin Huntsville, where group rates are available to those who would like to stay overnight and book early. Tickets, hotel information and all other information on the event will be available online in the coming week at www.gaccsouth.com.

Alabama’s international industries sector has grown tremendously in the wake of companies like Mercedes and Thyssen Krupp AG establishing homes there, with the former paving the way for other foreign manufacturing giants – Hyundai and Honda being just two examples – to settle in the state as well. The GACC South’s effort to foster the growth of the German-American business relationship not only in Alabama but all over the south is essential now more than ever, and we encourage everyone to be a part of these influential developments by joining us this spring.

More information about the event’s speakers, program and registration can be found online at www.gaccsouth.com.
