By: BIG ARTS Dr. Frederick W. Kagan is an American resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute. U.S. Army General David Petraeus, who was appointed by President Obama to head international forces in Afghanistan, hired Dr. Kagan in 2010 as an expert on fighting corruption. A former professor of military history at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Dr. Kagan is also co-author with his father, Donald Kagan, of While America Sleeps: Self-Delusion, Military Weakness, and the Threat to Peace Today. Dr. Kagan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Soviet and East European studies and a Ph.D. in Russian and Soviet military history, both from Yale University. This FORUM Lecture is sold out. Although BIG ARTS cannot guarantee ticket availability, tickets have typically become available the night of a lecture when a series ticket holder is unable to attend. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis for $35. In its tenth season, The FORUM Lecture Series is nationally recognized for inviting distinguished speakers and experts each year to Sanibel to speak about the key issues of our time. The final FORUM Lecture speaker is Desmond Lachman, resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research, who will speak March 7.
