Some key areas that were also explored were government support to mining firms to attract work force towards the sector, creating a culture for change and implementing changing models, employee retention a major challenge, executive compensation – governance and transparency and purpose beyond borders relocation, immigration or fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) workforce. The second half of the day highlighted key strategies for recruitment, sourcing and performance appraisal with leading experts. Day two was chaired by Chris Gibbs, Senior Director - Organisational Development at Barrick Gold Corporation - Canada that interactive panel discussion analysed on significant issues of partnership also with academic institutions for mine workers and labour unions in the mining industry. There was an interesting case study on employee engagement and motivation. 85% of attendees expressed desire that the Global Human Asset Expansion In Mining should be repeated next year with due diligence. The exhibitors - Accenture, Cowan International, VecTrance, PageUp People were overwhelmed with the response and had surpassed their expectations.
